New Canaan Police said Tuesday morning that the department is investigating a report of three missing people.
A woman and her two young children last were contacted by phone at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, according to a press release issued by Lt. Jason Ferraro.
They are believed to be in the vicinity of New York City, according to Ferraro.
The boy is about four feet tall, he said. The girl, 5, is about three-foot-six with brown hair.
Police believe they traveled to New York City by way of a livery service, he said.
New Canaan Police are actively working with NYPD to find them, he said.
The Connecticut State Police broadcast a Silver Alert on behalf of the New Canaan Police.
According to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, the woman had filed last summer for divorce.
