Police on Sunday morning arrested an 89-year-old Lakeview Avenue man by warrant and charged him with patronizing a prostitute.

On Aug. 19, police said, officers received a complaint from a victim who told them that the man offered to pay the victim to perform sexual services on the victim.

Officers launched an investigation into that complaint a secured a warrant for the man’s arrest on the misdemeanor charge, according to a police report. It isn’t clear what age or gender the victim was, where or how the offer was made, how much money was involved or just what the arrested man had said he would do.

It also isn’t clear whether the victim himself or herself was a prostitute—under the state statute on patronizing a prostitute, a person is guilty when:

  1. Pursuant to a prior understanding, he pays a fee to another person as compensation for such person or a third person having engaged in sexual conduct with him; or
  2. he pays or agrees to pay a fee to another person pursuant to an understanding that in return therefor such person or a third person will engage in sexual conduct with him; or
  3. he solicits or requests another person to engage in sexual conduct with him in return for a fee.

He turned himself in to police at 11:01 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Police released him after promising to appear Sept. 22 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

  1. I agree with Ben Harvey. There are more important things in this town to worry about. 89, at least he’s not a child molester, that is if the girl was NOT a minor.
