Police on Friday night arrested an 18-year-old New Canaan man after coming upon an underage drinking party at his home.
At about 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 13, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Colonial Road on a complaint of noise and a possible party, according to a police report.
There, officers saw three male juveniles in the backyard of a residence and two other youths standing inside an open garage, the report said.
One of those in the garage was identified as the 18-year-old who lived there, it said. He indicated to police that he was having a get-together with about five or six friends, the report said.
Following an investigation, police learned that about 60 juveniles were in the basement, it said. Officers saw beer cans and bottles of liquor there, the report said.
The teen charged with permitting a minor to possess alcohol and failure to halt possession of alcohol by a minor, and also cited for possession of alcohol by a minor.
He was released after promising to appear Dec. 27 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
