Tunes in Times Square
Sunday, May, 1, 2016
FreeMagical Music’s 5th annual sing-a-thon TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE will be held on May 1st at 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the Broadway Pedestrian Plaza between 42nd & 43rd Street. Talented children and groups from six states will come together to share the same stage with over 60 Broadway performers from most of the current shows and many past shows. This year there will be local singers, The Studio, New Canaan Dance Academy, and the Magical Music singing groups representing New Canaan in support of this event.
Some of the highlights for the day include: performance by the Finding Neverland boys singing “We’re All Made of Stars,” “Mary Poppins” Janes and Michaels teaching the audience the choreography for “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” debut of one of the water safety songs, preview of a new musical coming to Broadway this Fall (“A Bronx Tale: The Musical”), special performances by mixed Broadway show groups, excerpts from the Magical Music musicals, and preview of the relaunch of “The Adventures of Zak”.
The community is urged to support these local performers by coming to the event, making a donation in the name of a performer, or placing a bid at the online auction. There is no charge for attending this open air concert. The online auction is now open at www.magicalmusic.org and will be finished with a silent auction at the event along with a raffle. Auction items include tickets to Broadway shows (including Hamilton) / other events often with backstage tours and/or signed memorabilia, travel, dining, unique & autographed items, etc. To learn more about the event or make a donation, go to Magical Music for Life’s website, www.magicalmusic.org.
