This presentation is one young man’s empowering story of discovery. His educational and life experiences have set him on a path of self-awareness and acceptance ultimately helping him discover his “superpowers.” Jake’s self-empowered strengths are what he describes as:
• creative problem-solver
• self-advocate
• optimist and positive thinker
• active listener and strategic communicator
Jake attended both public and independent schools throughout elementary, middle and high school. Despite the fact that many people throughout his life labeled him and told him college was out of the question, this never deterred Jake’s own purpose. He knew he would dictate his own fate. His perseverance and drive turned his weaknesses into strengths. Jake is now a 22-year old college student majoring in communications, an area identified as a weakness in his early years in education.
The irony and challenge are not lost on this young man! Jake is an inspirational speaker who capitalizes on his strengths and delivers a message of self-discovery and perseverance in the face of adversity. His goal is to to help students just like him discover, understand, and direct their own superpowers so they can be the best individuals they can.
