“Spatial Relations” an Exhibition by Susan Cutler Tremaine, Opens Late September at New Canaan Library’s Curtis Gallery
Sunday, September, 30, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
FreeThe work in Susan Cutler Tremaine’s arresting exhibition “Spatial Relations” draws the viewer in, prompting self inquiry and reflection. “Spatial Relations” begins Thursday, September 27 and runs through Sunday, November 11. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, September 30 from 3 -5 p.m., with a Q & A with Ms. Tremaine beginning at 3:30 p.m.. All are welcome .
How do you find your place in a space? Is it a question of comfort, or is it more a question of symmetry or location? Posing – and possibly answering – these questions, Tremaine’s exhibition is comprised of three series of work, distinctively unique, yet sharing the commonality of a strong architectural influence and a strategic use of color to punctuate more subdued or black and white palettes.
” I strive to make paintings that are intuitive, open to interpretation and above all, to express beauty through color, line and form,” says Tremaine. ” The work becomes a portal for the viewer to enter and pause for reflection.”
“Spatial Relations” is sponsored by the Art Committee of New Canaan Library, and is curated by Christle Chumney and Terry Spring. For additional information please contact Christle Chumney at 203.594.5075 or visit newcanaanlibrary.org.
