Silver Hill Hospital will host a special cultural presentation for the public featuring the Labrang Tashi Kyil Monks – as part of the monks’ 2019 USA Tour – on Saturday, January 26th from 1 to 4 p.m., in Silver Hill’s Martin Center. The community event is free to the public.

The January 26th public event will feature six Tashi Kyil Monks who will perform a Tashi Sholpa dance, created to welcome the Dalai Lama during visits to Tibetan monasteries; chanting and Chod Meditation – a ceremony to cut off attachments, accompanied by a sacred Buddhist dance called Cham; a teaching on the Buddha’s Four Noble Truths; and a debate demonstration. Community members will also have an opportunity to observe the monks’ work on a Sacred Sand Mandala on world peace, an initiative that takes four days to complete and involves millions of grains of sand resulting in a multi-colored design, symbolizing harmony and healing. Community members can also participate in workshops on sand painting, Mani stones and prayer flags.
