New Canaan Public Schools and the Saxe Building Committee announce the “Saxe Middle School Project Grand Opening” from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. The event, which is open to the public, celebrates the Saxe Building Project. The Project broke ground on June 16, 2016, and was completed on budget and on schedule for the 2017-2018 school year.

The Saxe Middle School Project consists of the construction of a new two-story addition housing STEM, science, art and general classrooms, the renovation of the 60-year-old auditorium, and the resizing, renovation and modernizing of the school’s music wing. Boiler room abatement, which started this summer, will continue in summer 2018.

The Grand Opening event will begin with a program in the new 716-seat Saxe Auditorium, featuring brief remarks and introductions from the stage followed by short musical performances by Saxe students and faculty. Guided tours will then allow visitors a first-hand look at the new addition, the renovated music rooms, and backstage areas of the auditorium. The entire community and all town body members are welcome. No RSVP is required.
