Rehabilitated Hawk & Owl Release with New Canaan Land Trust and Wildlife in Crisis
Thursday, February, 7, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
FreeJoin the New Canaan Land Trust and Wildlife in Crisis as we release a Red-Tailed Hawk and Barred Owl to the wild. We will meet at the Cedar Lane entrance to the Kelley Uplands, directly across from 161 Cedar Lane.
This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
About the animals:
Red-tailed hawk: The red-tailed hawk was hit by a car and suffered head trauma and a wing fracture. After several months of healing at Wildlife in Crisis and time spent on a large aviary, he is ready for release.
Barred owl: The barred owl was also struck by a car and suffered head trauma and a fractured coracoid. After several months of intensive clinic care at Wildlife in Crisis, he was moved to an outdoor aviary where he spent time rebuilding flight muscles and coordination necessary for release.
