Deadline for Submissions: Spectrum 2016 / Natural Inspiration at the Carriage Barn Arts Center
Thursday, March, 10, 2016
NEW CANAAN, CT, February 19, 2016–Spectrum has been hosted for 26 years at the Carriage Barn Arts Center, home to the New Canaan Society for the Arts (NCSA). Historically scheduled after the NCSA’s annual Photography Show, Spectrum is a juried exhibition of original, contemporary artwork by local and regional artists, and invites submissions in all media except photography. All entries must have been created within the past two years and must not have been previously exhibited at the Carriage Barn.
This year, guest Juror Gabriel de Guzman, Curator of Visual Arts at Wave Hill a public garden and cultural center in the Bronx, is reviewing work that explores the phenomenal ways that nature inspires us. Landscape, flora, fauna, the effects of light, natural forces, seasonal cycles, and environmental issues are just a few examples of subject matter that falls within this broad theme. We welcome literal, abstract, and conceptual interpretations of this topic. All media (including video) but photography will be considered.

About The New Canaan Society for the Arts (NCSA)
The mission of the New Canaan Society for the Arts is to promote the visual and performing arts, to enrich the community through exhibitions, education, and cultural experiences, and to operate the Carriage Barn Arts Center. We offer artists opportunities to exhibit their work in an exceptional gallery space inside a unique nineteenth-century stone barn. Our shows are complemented by gatherings, educational workshops, concerts, and other events in ours adaptively reused historical space, located on the grounds of a former estate, now named Waveny Park. During exhibitions our gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10-3pm and Sundays 1-5pm. Find more information at www.carriagebarn.org.
