Join New Canaan Library for the debut of an original play commissioned especially for its One Book New Canaan program series, a month-long exploration of Bill Bryson’s One Summer: America, 1927.

In the final One Book New Canaan event, playwrights Brandon Monokian and Katie Frazer will present The Murder and Booze Cabaret at the Powerhouse Theater at Waveny Park, adapting the historical events and figures of Bryson’s book in a new cabaret-style production that brings history to life with a modern twist. Sly, funny, and peppered with Jazz renditions of modern pop songs by Nirvana, Brittany Spears, and others, The Murder and Booze Cabaret captures the salacious escapades of the 1920s with murder, mayhem, and music. Your choice of two evening performances will guarantee a swinging good time!

Performances will be held at Powerhouse Theater, Waveny Park, 679 South Avenue, New Canaan, CT 06840 at 6:30 pm and 8 pm on Saturday March 28th. An optional talkback session will be held with the writers and actors following the 8pm show.

This special library program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited based on Powerhouse Theatre’s capacity. Registration is required for admission.
