​Come celebrate Spring with family and friends at the 2017 Sakura Matsuri (Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival) to be held on Sunday April 30, 2017 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Mead Memorial Park in New Canaan, CT.

The event will feature Traditional Okinawan Dance by Junko Fisher, Japanese Songs by Chris Janson, Taiko Drumming by UConn Taiko, Martial Arts Demonstration by Nazuka Karate, and Bonsai Display by Michael Pollock.

In addition there will be cultural activity workshops for adults and children including Origami (paper folding), Kimono dressing, Ikebana (flower arrangement), Calligraphy & Sumi-e (brush painting), Dr. Robot (toy robots), and Bonsai display. Attendees are encouraged to bring their bonsai for evaluation.

In a special dedication, a Cherry Blossom tree will be planted to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Japan Society of Fairfield County.
