The New Canaan Historical Society 15th Annual Valentine Tea

The New Canaan Historical Society is hosting its 15th Annual Valentine Tea on Thursday, February 11, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm. There will be two tea sittings: At 12:00 and 2:00 pm. At 1:00 pm, Patricia Funt Oxman of Patricia Funt Antiques will speak on the subject of the history of scent and its important role in the world of love connections.

Attendees will enjoy samplings from a table loaded with petite sandwiches, scones, fancy cakes and chocolates following in the tradition of the earliest teas said to have begun in 1840 by Anna, the Seventh Duchess of Bedford. The ritual began as a way to quell hunger pangs between lunch and dinner.
