Minor Drug Charge for New Canaan Man, 18, and Other Pot Citations

An 18-year-old Brooks Road man faces citations for drug and alcohol after found pot and beer in his car during a traffic stop downtown on Saturday night.

At about 8:51 p.m. on Oct. 10, an officer spotted a vehicle on Main Street with a passenger-side headlight out, according to a police report.

Approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana and detected signs of smoking in the driver, such as glassy and bloodshot eyes, the report said.

Zip-Loc bags with marijuana inside and a metal grinder were in plain sight, and a multi-colored glass pipe was on the passenger-side floor, the report said.

Police also found a six pack of Bud Light bottles and several other beers and cans in the trunk of the car, the report said.

They cited the motorist for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor on a public highway.

Police cited a 28-year-old Stamford man on a marijuana infraction last Wednesday night after finding a small amount of pot in his car during a traffic stop.

At about 8:26 p.m. on Oct. 7, an officer on South Avenue stopped a car near Gerdes Road that had been traveling with no taillights.

The New Canaan Police Department’s K-9 dog, Apollo, arrived on scene and found a joint in the car, according to a police report.

The motorist was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.

A 30-year-old Florida man faces an infraction summons after police found pot and smoking gear in his car after sopping him for speeding last Tuesday morning.

The Jupiter, Fla. resident at about 8:07 a.m. on Oct. 6 was clocked traveling 50 mph in a 25 mph zone on Carter Street, according to a police report.

Apollo the K-9 dog was called in as back-up and when the motorist was asked whether there were drugs in the car, he told police that there had been marijuana inside in the past, the report said. Ultimately the man admitted that there was pot in his car and handed over a baggie of weed, the report said.

The K-9 dog also unearthed a grinder and large roll of cigars with roaches, the report said.

The motorist was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as speeding.

A 23-year-old Norwalk man was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana after police found pot in the car during a traffic stop on South Avenue on Saturday evening.

At about 7:48 p.m. on Oct. 10, police stopped a car with its passenger-side headlight out in the area of South at Farm Road, according to a police report.

An officer smelled marijuana on approaching the car and the passenger handed over a joint, the report said. The motorist claimed the drugs were his.
