Julie Peckham was born Feb. 24, 1923 in Moriah, N.Y. and died peacefully on her 94th birthday, Feb. 24, 2017.
Her parents were Michael Nagy and Sophia Jacob Nagy who emigrated from Hungary through Ellis Island and settled in northern New York state.
Julie graduated in 1945 from State Teachers College in Plattsburgh, N.Y. She moved to Elmira, N.Y. and married Ervin O. Peckham who predeceased her in 1999.
Julie retired from the Elmira City School District as a Home Economics Teacher for 34 years in 1982.
Julie moved to New Canaan in 2007 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
She enjoyed singing in the United Methodist Church Choir, her teaching career, gardening, walking on the hill in Pine City, listening to soft music, reading for many years and her good friends.
She is survived by her sisters Sylvia Murray of Pine City, N.Y. and Ruthie Cawley of Schenectady, N.Y., son Frederick E. Peckham and daughter-in-law, Lourdes Peckham, of Pittsford, N.Y., daughter Suzanne McCabe and son-in-law, Matthew Bolgar of New Canaan and four grandchildren, Katharine and Kelly McCabe and Alexander and Jonathan Peckham.
