ID Theft, Conspiracy Charges for New York Men Following Foot, Car Pursuits Downtown Friday

Police on Friday evening arrested two New York men on conspiracy and identity theft charges following a pursuit that ended in a car crash downtown.

At about 6:19 p.m. on June 24, officers were dispatched to Walgreens on Pine Street on a report of an individual attempting to commit credit card fraud, according to a police report.

Officers arrived and pursued the man—a 24-year-old from Yonkers, N.Y.—on foot, while another officer in his car followed a different 24-year-old, from Brooklyn, who had been waiting outside the Pine Street pharmacy, the report said.

The car chase ended when the suspect and police vehicles crashed near Park Street and Richmond Hill Road, it said. The foot pursuit ended with that man taken into custody near Pine and Park Streets, it said.

The motorist was charged with two counts of conspiracy, illegal use of a credit card, interfering with an officer, third-degree identity theft and disregarding an officer’s signal.

He was released on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear July 7 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

The other man was charged with two counts each of conspiracy, illegal use of a credit card and third-degree identity theft, as well as interfering with an officer. He was released on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear July 7 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
