Police last month cited five local teenagers on alcohol and other charges following an underage drinking party in northern New Canaan.

At about 10:18 p.m. on Sept. 20—a Wednesday—New Canaan Police were dispatched to a house under construction on Proprietors Crossing on a report that juveniles were on the property and inside the house without permission, drinking alcohol, according to a police report.

The property’s owner had confronted the male teens and they left in a motor vehicle, according to police. The property owner caught the license plate on the vehicle, and then found 53 cans of Bud Light in a cooler in the master bedroom, the report said.

Police launched an investigation and brought infraction summonses against three 16-year-old New Canaan males and two 17-year-old New Canaan males, it said. Police withheld their names because of their ages.

The charges were possession of alcohol by minors and second-degree trespass.

The cases were referred to the Juvenile Matters Division of state Superior Court.
