Police arrested a drunk 18-year-old Colorado man on misdemeanor charges after midnight on New Year’s Day who had turned up at his ex-girlfriend’s home and got into a fight with a neighbor.

At about 1:47 a.m., police responded to Cedar Lane on a complaint of trespassing, according to a police report. There, police found the 18-year-old in the middle of the street. According to a police report, the teen said he’d had some drinks and was coming to visit his 16-year-old girlfriend, and said she’d invited him. Police learned that he’d knocked on the door and been turned away by his ex-girlfriend, who claimed she never had invited the teen over and that they had not been dating for a long time, the report said.

At some point an 18-year-old neighbor came to the house and told the ex-boyfriend to leave—an argument between the two then turned physical, police said. The ex-boyfriend threw a punch and the neighbor told police he punched back out of self-defense, the police report said.

The ex-boyfriend, who gave an address in Golden, Col., was charged with second-degree breach of peace. He was released after promising to appear Jan. 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
