Police last Wednesday arrested a 55-year-old Fairfield woman on an impaired driving charge after her car came to a stop in the middle of an entrance ramp to the Merritt Parkway.

At about 9:47 p.m. on Feb. 1, an officer on patrol saw the woman pull onto the entrance ramp from the northbound lane of Old Stamford road, according to a police report.

Her vehicle was blocking the ramp, the report said.

On speaking to the woman, the officer found that she appeared confused about her direction of travel, it said.

She failed field sobriety tests and police charged her with driving under the influence.

A blood-alcohol test was administered and results are pending, according to police.

Authorities additionally cited her for failure to keep right on a curve or hill, an infraction offense.

She was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
