On Oct. 24, police picked up a Novia Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever for the second time in eight days. The senior dog’s owner on Lambert Road was issued $92 and $75 tickets, for allowing a dog to roam and failure to license, respectively. The tan-and-white dog originally had been impounded on Oct. 16.

A 10-year-old Australian Shepherd dog bit an electrician on Briscoe Road on the morning of Oct. 15. Doctors who treated the man’s right calf recommended reporting the incident to police. The Aussie underwent a two-week quarantine at home, as per state law.

A New Canaan woman adopted the cat found dumped and “frozen in fear” at Waveny on Sept. 24 and the Connecticut Humane Society took in a bunny that had been dumped Oct. 1 near the Transfer Station.

An injured wild turkey picked up Friday on an Indian Rock Road property is recovering at South Wilton Veterinary Group. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the turkey’s leg or wing was injured, but the animal was not able to move as it normally would, according to Officer Allyson Halm, head of Animal Control. A caretaker for the property helped net the animal.

New Canaan is seeing a sharp upswing in coyote activity, with 23 reported sightings in October, according to Halm.

A Dogwood Lane woman was issued two $75 tickets for failing to license her pug and Labrador retriever mix. Authorities flagged the dogs after a neighbor reported them as roaming in the area.
