A 70-year-old White Birch Road man on Independence Day weekend reported to police that a pair of 2-by-3-foot flags had been removed from his property.

The man, who is from a military family, each year puts the flags out in the stone pillars toward the end of his driveway, police said (strictly in terms of dollar value, they’re worth about $20 apiece).

He put them out on the night of July 4, and they were still there at 9 p.m. the following day, but missing a few hours later.

Police are investigating.
