A woman who pulled up to a Summer Street home on a recent afternoon grew frightened by a cat she saw perched on the porch of the house, and contacted police to shoo it away before she’d get out of the car, according to a police report.

Police got the call around 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 10, at a Summer Street home near Lakeview Avenue, according to Animal Control Officer Maryann Kleinschmitt.

“She was afraid it was rabid because it had something in its mouth,” Kleinschmitt said.

Police arrived and found a friendly cat chewing on something, Kleinschmitt said. It kindly walked away when they shooed it, Kleinschmitt said. The woman presumably then got out of the car.
