Brass Lamppost Reported Stolen From New Canaan Driveway

A 70-year-old  man on Maple Street at 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 1 told authorities that a lamppost had gone missing from his property. The man told police that he had two lampposts, both placed on top of stone pillars at the end of his driveway, and that one was missing.

The brass structure is worth around $200, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc. Police are investigating.

At 9:22 p.m. on July 31, a 60-year-old Gerdes Road man reported a case of credit card fraud. The man told authorities that he was notified by his bank of suspicious activity on a card that he had no recollection of using.

The card had been obtained and used by someone out of New York, according to Ogrinc.
