The role of First Selectman becomes more demanding every year and requires a combination of financial, legal and managerial skills. The Town of New Canaan is a complex business, with a $140 million annual budget and 200 employees. I worked in Town Hall for the past six years and I saw first-hand the budgeting and managerial challenges facing our Town. Kevin Moynihan is the right person to face these challenges. Kevin has 35 years of business experience in the legal profession and he has served as a Member of the Town Council for the last four years. His corporate experience and local knowledge are the right combination for New Canaan.
The current budget crisis in Hartford will certainly impact New Canaan. If the projected budget cuts to New Canaan become a reality, many tough decisions will need to be made. Kevin understands that being the leader means being ready to make difficult decisions, even if they are unpopular. At the same time, he knows that he must balance the costs of the wonderful schools and services that New Canaan provides to its residents with keeping property taxes as low as possible for those same residents. It will not be an easy job, but Kevin is definitely up to the task.
Please join me and vote for Kevin Moynihan for First Selectman on Tuesday November 7th.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Redman
