Police on Saturday morning arrested a 32-year-old New Canaan man found drunk and slumped asleep over the wheel of a running car in the middle of the road.
At about 8:16 a.m. on Oct. 1, officers responded to a report of the man in a vehicle near Old Stamford Road and the Merritt Parkway, according to a police report.
There, police found that the vehicle was not only running but in drive, and they smelled alcohol emanating from the man’s breath within, the report said.
The driver, a West Hills Road resident, failed field sobriety tests and his blood-alcohol level was found to be more than three times the legal limit, it said.
Police charged him with driving under the influence.
He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
