Police on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old New Canaan man on drug, alcohol and forgery charges after finding pot, 24-ounce can of Four Loko and a fake ID on him during a motor vehicle stop.

The teen failed field sobriety tests after police stopped him for crossing the double-yellow line while traveling north on Main Street near Maple, according to a police report.

While looking through his wallet for a driver’s license, the motorist found what appeared to be one ID, then shuffled past it to find another card, the report said. Asked about the card he’d just had in his hand, the teen told the officer that it was a fake ID, the report said.

The motorist’s eyes appeared bloodshot, his speech was slurred and the officer smelled odor of alcohol on his breath, the report said. He would test at about six times the legal blood-alcohol limit (for minors), the report said.

With permission, the office searched the car, where he found the high-concentration alcoholic drink, and found the pot in a baggie in the teen’s pocket as he patted him down, the report said.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence, third-degree forgery (for the fake ID), possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.

He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear March 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
