This Columbus weekend, the successful Pop-Up Park, will become Pop-Up Palooza. From 12 to 3:30 p.m., local bands will perform. The first band will be a group of local musicians who are coming together under the name, “Who’s Your Father?” Brought together by Patrick Biscelgia, the band features his brother, Mike, uncle Billy Reedy, and friends Mike Stella and Rob Capparelli.

The headlining band is The Grassy Towels, local high schoolers who have made a name for themselves playing school and charity events in New Canaan for the past two years. They are all sophomores at New Canaan High School playing in school bands. Robert Hoover, drummer for The Grassy Towels, also is a percussionist for the NCHS concert band. Bhaskar Abhiraman, keyboardist, shares his classical training and experience competing at while playing at local senior homes. Sam Klearman rounds out the trio with his guitar. He is self-taught on guitar but plays trumpet for the NCHS pit and concert band.

The Grassy Towels play rock and classic rock with some and jazz and blues roots.

Both bands will feature classic rock songs and family-friendly performances. Realty Guild will be popping popcorn during the show and everyone is welcome to come and listen to the fun music. The event is free, open to the public, and family-friendly.

The event has been co-organized by Barbara Cleary’s Realty Guild, Christie’s International Real Estate affiliate, and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. Sales agents Betsy Wilson, Darcy Price, Robert Avery, Lauren Sorgen all who joined Realty Guild in 2014 have been involved in planning.
