A 54-year-old Valley Road man told police last week that about $320,000 in cash, jewelry and Rolex watches is missing from a safe in his home.
The man said the safe itself hadn’t been forced open—in fact, it was left open and unlocked by whomever got in there, according to a police report—and that he believes the items were stolen some time between July 1 and 10, when he was on vacation. He didn’t realize anything was wrong until he checked it on the morning of July 17, and immediately notified police, Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said.
In addition to between $5,000 and $10,000 in cash, two Rolexes—a man’s and a woman’s—and “several pieces of jewelry” are reported missing.
Asked whether the victim had workers in the house when he was away, Ogrinc said yes.
Police are investigating.
