Two New Canaan teens face minor drug charges Saturday after police found them with marijuana and smoking pipes in a car at Waveny.
The youths, 16 and 17, were two of four town teens in a car that was parked near the Carriage Barn at around 5 p.m. on March 22, according to Sgt. Peter Condos of the New Canaan Police Department.
The car, operated by the 16-year-old, nearly backed into a police cruiser patrolling the popular park, Condos said.
When the officer approached the car, he smelled marijuana and asked whether there was any pot in the vehicle, according to a police report. The 16-year-old driver said yes and that hit was his. The officer came to find that the 17-year-old also had a small amount of marijuana on him, Condos said.
Each was charged with possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
