  1. Thank you. I appreciate being included as a parking observer. I began helping the family at age fifteen so I have some hours logged. Yes, Elm is filled from 8AM through about 10 o’clock or so but those are coffee people and they really do not stay, they grab the coffee and shoot off to work. During my 23 years on the Parking Commission my strong opinion each time the topic arose was to give consistent offenders tickets on a very tight clock and give shoppers, diners, those with appointments some leeway. All offending cars are well known to the attendants. Each time I said that, the quick rebuttal was that is was “selective enforcement” and couldn’t be done. In every part of life there is “selective”. Regulars getting special tables in restaurants, clients and professional contacts where interactions are on a special uptick. We need to be of inviting nature. Be it professional or social, that is how progress is made. If someone is using a space who really should not be there, that is rudeness. Rudeness isn’t very nice. Ticket them.
