Torrance York to Give Artist Talk at Gores Pavilion on June 4th
Tuesday, June, 4, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Torrance York will give an Artist Talk on Tuesday, June 4th at 10:30 am at Gores Pavilion in Irwin Park, New Canaan, CT. The artist will talk about her current solo exhibition, Common Ground: Irwin, that includes twelve landscape photographs created in Irwin Park over the past 4 years, and will share a print portfolio of previous projects, as well.
The photographs taken over the past 4 years emphasize the changing palette of the seasons and represent her experience of a specific place. For this reason, she includes the GPS coordinates in the title of each photograph. “I create these compositions from my field of view at these particular points. I say ‘created’ instead of ‘captured’ because the eye cannot play with focus on its own. A shallow depth of field can only be examined through the camera lens.”
The exhibit will be on display in the Gores Pavilion in Irwin Park until November 3, 2019. The Gores Pavilion is open Friday-Sunday 11 am – 3 pm, or by appointment. For additional information, please contact the New Canaan Museum and Historical Society at info@nchistory.org or 203-966-1776.
