Romania’s Position and Policies in International Security

The public is invited to attend an Ambassadors’ Roundtable series dinner presentation by Iulian Buga, Ambassador of Romania to the U.S., on “Romania’s Position & Policies in International Security”. This event will take place at the Stamford Yacht Club on May 13, 2015.

Ambassador Buga was appointed to his current position, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States of America in 2013. Ambassador Buga has held numerous ambassadorial postings, receiving his first posting in 2001 to head his country’s mission in the Netherlands. At the same time, he served as Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. More recently he has served as State Secretary for Political and Strategic Affairs, Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2009) and Romania’s Ambassador to Ireland (2009-2013).

Previously Ambassador Buga served in numerous positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the Romanian External Foreign Service. He also served as a diplomat at the Embassy of Romania in Washington, DC (1994 to 1997).

Ambassador Buga holds the following titles/orders/medals; Diplomatic Rank of Ambassador,
Dutch Order of “Orange Nassau” in the class of “Knight of Grand Cross”, Knight of Romanian National Order of the “Faithful Service”, Romanian Order of “the Diplomatic Order” and Orthodox Patriarchal Gold Cross.

Ambassador Buga holds a BS, Electronics and Telecommunications Faculty from Polytechnic Institute, Bucharest and an MA with “Distinction” in International Relations and Diplomacy from Westminster University, London.

The cost for the dinner and presentation is free for AR series members and $105 for the general public. The event will start at 6:15 P.M. with a cash bar. Dinner will begin at 7 P.M. and will be followed by the presentation. Reservations and advance payment are required. Space is limited.
