Library’s Notes in Midwinter Concert Series Begins 2015 Season with Acapella Ensemble The Duke’s Men of Yale

New Canaan Library starts the new year off on a high note with a return of the ever-popular Notes in Mid-Winter concert series. The series begins on Sunday, Jan. 18 with a captivating performance by Yale’s renowned all- male a capella singing ensemble The Duke’s Men of Yale.
“Notes in Midwinter” enlivens wintry Sunday afternoons with free concerts featuring musicians and ensembles performing music ranging from chamber and classical to jazz and contemporary vocals. All performances are at 2 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room.
Founded in 1952, The Duke’s Men of Yale have delighted audiences around the world, charming preschoolers and presidents alike. These talented young men have a repertoire that spans all genres and all generations as well as traditional Yale numbers, and music they have written themselves. Join them for a winter afternoon’s diversion that’s sure to delight.
The series continues with the following dates and performers:
- January 25- Andrew Armstrong: solo pianist performing works by Chopin, Brahms and more.
- February 1 – Hearken: Lisa Arkis, Flutist and Wendy Kerner, Harpist with guest cellist Katherine Cherbas performing works by Bach, Chopin, Ibert, Vaughan Williams and more.
- February 8 – Adrian Cunningham Jazz Quintet: Bringing the spirit of New Orleans by performing the music of jazz greats including Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Fats Domino!
The Notes in Mid-Winter concert series is curated by internationally recognized harpist Wendy Kerner. All library programs are free and open to the public but seating is limited and early arrival is recommended. For further information, please visit newcanaanlibrary.org or call 203.594.5003.
