Father’s day is right around the corner, and to help jump start this very special day, Tom Molito, long time YMCA member and author of the book “Mickey Mantle: Inside and Outside the Lines” will be at the New Canaan YMCA on Tuesday, June 14th from 9:30am – 12:30 pm to share his stories and memorabilia.
Molito collaborated with the highly respected baseball historian Harold “Doc” Friend. The late Mr. Friend wrote for Bleacher Report (CBS) and uncovered previously unknown facts about Mantle’s career – such as Mickey hitting the exterior in Yankee Stadium three times instead of the reported two times. There is an entire chapter dedicated to updating Mantle’s career with present day statistical measurements and coming to the surprising conclusion that “Mickey Mantle was even better than people originally thought!”
Black Rose writing states that, “The book recalls never before told stories: from Park Avenue, to Las Vegas, to Cooperstown; from television shoots to concerts to Mickey’s restaurant on Central Park West”. So, if Dad is a baseball fan or just simply an admirer of one of baseball’s most legendary players, this book is a perfect gift.
Books can be purchased and will be signed by Tom during this time, and a percentage of the book’s proceeds will be given back to the New Canaan YMCA.
