Sunday, May, 7, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Bernstein and Fensterstock families to be honored for their support of New Canaan’s Jewish community
The Chabad New Canaan Jewish Center will host a Gala Dinner on the evening of May 7 at Waveny House in celebration of Jewish life in New Canaan and to recognize the critical support of two families.
The Gala will honor New Canaan residents Melody and Claude Bernstein and Peggy and Jerry Fensterstock from Katonah, NY for the indispensable and sustained support they have provided to the Center. Anne and Jon Liebergall, of New Canaan, will chair the event.
According to Rabbi Levi Mendelow, co-director of the Jewish Center, “The encouragement and participation of our honorees and so many other New Canaan families has allowed our Jewish community to become more vital and visible with each passing year.”
According to Michal Mendelow, co-director of the Center, the Gala dinner also will be an opportunity to showcase the range of Jewish initiatives now available in New Canaan, including Shabbat services, Passover Seders, Hebrew School, bar and bat-mitzvahs, and brit millahs and baby namings. She added that the Jewish Center in addition, also sponsors Jewish teen programs, a wide range of counseling, Talmud studies, and celebrations of all Jewish holidays.
“Judaism as practiced in New Canaan is centered on our ability to come together as a community, despite very different experience of observance, background and knowledge,” observed Rabbi Mendelow.
