Auditions for the Magical Music Singers
Sunday, October, 18, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Magical Music for Life Foundation will be holding auditions for its high school singing group, the Magical Music Singers, Sunday, October 18th between 2:00 – 5:00 in New Canaan. The singing group includes three singers per vocal part (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass), and can include a few alternates depending upon auditions. We are looking for singers with mature voices who have solo power and character, but can also blend with other voices. Also, these singers must bring physical and facial energy and animation to their live performances. In addition to the live performances, this group records songs as needed.
Rehearsals are generally held at 4:00 – 5:30 on scheduled Sunday afternoons at The Studio in New Canaan, CT. This group does not meet every week, so the individual singers need to be able to learn and memorize the music in preparation for rehearsals. Performances will be at the New Canaan Holiday Stroll, community and charity events in the tri-state area, and Magical Music’s TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE in New York City on May 1st. Magical Music for Life is a participant in the President’s Volunteer Service Award and time spent with the singing group qualifies toward the award.
If you are interested in auditioning for the Magical Music Singers, please contact the Magical Music office at info@magicalmusic.org to schedule an audition appointment. For those who cannot make the auditions on the 18th, please contact Magical Music to discuss an alternative audition time. For the audition, a singer should prepare a short excerpt (32 bars) of an age–appropriate song to sing for the audition which shows range / personality and bring the karaoke instrumental accompaniment on a CD or music device (iPod, iPhone, etc.).
Magical Music for Life Foundation develops and produces a wide range of musical projects that deliver positive, inspirational, and education messages to children and their families. These projects entertain while educating and promoting conversation about how to deal with everyday life in a positive manner. As a way to reinforce self-confidence and further self-esteem, many of these projects are designed to enable children to participate in the performance and/or recording of these productions, using their talents to help others. Magical Music’s original songs (including their album for children with autism and special needs) are available to download on their website and are performed and recorded by their singing groups.
