New Canaan police are investigating several reports of fraud:

  • At 12:44 p.m. on April 10, a 48-year-old Hemlock Hill Road woman said a bank contacted her about a $2,000 cash advance payment made on what supposedly was her own credit card, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc. The woman didn’t have an account or credit card with the bank, whose fraud department is investigating.
  • A 47-year-old Heritage Hill Road woman at 3:34 p.m. on April told police that a total of approximately $870 in fraudulent charges had been made on April 10 and 11 on her credit card, including at a CVS in Stamford and Bloomingdale’s in White Plains, NY.
  • Police at 3:03 p.m. on April 9 received a complaint from a 60-year-old Greenley Road woman that a $670 iPad had been purchased on her credit card at a Best Buy, Ogrinc said. The woman said she still has the credit card and that it never was lost.

Police cited a 17-year-old on Route 123 on minor drug charges after they stopped her for crossing the double yellow lines and found pot, a pipe, grinder and rolling papers in her car.

The motorist appeared nervous during the stop, and police found marijuana in her purse as well as paraphernalia, Ogrinc said.

She was issued a juvenile summons for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He ran the stop sign while turning left from Main Street onto Old Norwalk Road, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on April 13, Ogrinc said.
